The weekend right after Oz Comic-Con was Avcon, my favourite Australia convention for the year. This years theme was School days, get ready for class! I had a cute cosplay uniform of Kuze Kiriha from Fortune Arterial ready to go, though I ended up assisting Marie on her booth both days, so Lolita all weekend it was for me.
With several conventions under my belt, I was getting the hang of setting up the One day in Paradise booth. During the day there was also quite a few people dropping in to help with set up, so we were done in record time.
On day one of Avcon, I wore a Alice and the Pirates Vampire Requiem Long JSK and matching canotier. I coordinated that with a Metamorphose chiffon blouse and short black Innocent World Boots. Marie was promoting Leifs latest design Matryoshka OP, barette and necklace. Heather rounded up the One Day in Paradise team on Saturday, but unfortunately I did not get a picture of the dress that she wore!
On day two we had Kairii assist us on the booth and I snapped this picture before the convention opened for the day. The
lighting in the main hall was not particularly good and I had a pink spotlight on me, so forgive me for my unusual skintone! Kairii was wearing a Baby the Stars Shine Bright Pocket Embroidery JSK, black chiffon blouse and a handmade neck ruff that was quite spectacular! Marie wore a very popular old design by Leif Sacred Night, she put together with a black blouse and Alice and the Pirates Headbow. As it was the day of the Lolita parade I decided to dress up a little more and wore a Alice and the Pirates End of Immortal Eden JSK, a black chiffon blouse with princess sleeves, Vampire Prelude bonnet and some black lace offbrand tights with roses on them. I’m very happy how the outfit turned out.
One day in Paradise had sponsored the lolita parade so Marie asked if I was able to go judge the event in her place. We got quite a good turn out this year and many new lolitas show up to make the parade.
I joined the group just as marshalling was starting, so went around and got a couple of snaps before joining the other judges. Yi Ying, Bridget and Sophie on the left in the marshalling area. I jumped in and grabbed a picture with Kelly, Candice, Jaana and Lauren, some of my favourite lolitas before the parade started.
Carrie and Josh were the MC’s for the parade, Josh was very good natured and let himself be “Brolita’ed” up for the event. Thaleia provided the lovely backdrop that was used in the parade and advertising for the event. Thaleia is also the person who draws the majority of my chibis which you can find just to the right of this post!
The three judges for the event, on the far end is Nana last years winner, Beverley the organiser of the Lolita Parade and me representing the sponsor, One day in Paradise. I was able to announce and give the runner up award to Kelly.
The four award winners. Katie was awarded the runner up for the hand made category with her lolita coordinate. The winner was wearing an extremely well made Steam Punk coordinate. The quality of the accessories and the corset were very well done! Angela was the winner of the best Lolita Coordinate wearing a Juliette et Justine JSK, Le Cadre du chat. Kelly won the runner up award wearing a Baby the Stars Shine Bright Velveteen OP.
All of the parade participants and judges on stage. The last two pictures were taken by Thanh from Brilliant Blue Photography.
Last of all, thank you very much to my little lolita helper Imogen for helping and hanging out with me at the con.
