I love December, not only is it my birthday, but also christmas and everyone gets into party mode. This year I realised that Carrie’s birthday was 5 days after mine, so we decided to have a combined birthday party. We were trying to come up with a theme and someone suggested a Mariokart tournament and everything just took off from there! We went with a racing and mario theme but also wanted to have a party reminicent of the parties that we used to have as a kid! Here is how we celebrated, I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we did the party!
Carrie and I did some hunting for the party and came up with some great finds. We found racing bunting, serviettes and a tablecloth at a local party store, matching hats and moustaches online and some adorable mushroom stools in Bed bath and Table. Put that together with an awesome bf that helped make the food we had a rocking party!
I wanted to have a little bit of fun so i planned a pass the parcel game with lolita prizes! As we were a large group it was difficult to get group photos. The stairs actually work out as a great place to get a group shot.
I borrowed a TV from my brother so that we had two flatscreens going so that 8 people could race at a time.Get ready for some racing!
Want some jelly with chocolate frogs on top ( a favourite when I was younger) or maybe a sausage roll, wrap or pavlova? My mum and chris helped me cook for the day.
We had Mario and Luigi pop in for a bit! I loved the mushrooms they were adorable.
Now onto some racing.
All the concentration until someone gets taken out by a shell!
And down to the finals….yea! Lauren, Jaana, Kelly and Me. Mushrooms are power ups right?
And first place goes to Jaana, second place was taken by Kelly, third place was won by an indecisive Lauren and I got fourth.
And what do you wear to a Lolita Mariokart tournament…? Carrie in Angelic Pretty Chocolate Chess, Bridget wearing Angelic Pretty Fantastic Dolly. I am wearing a Emily Temple cute polka-dot JSK. Emma is a lavender Lyrical Bunny JSK.
Jaana a bit more causal for the day, Jo, Kelly in a Mermaid ETC skirt and Lauren wearing the latest in couture balloons.
