I first found out about lolita on my first trip to japan several years ago, at that stage I was aware of it, but not too interested in dressing in it myself. It wasnt until a couple years later that I seriously took a second look, the reason for doing that was another hobby that I have ball jointed dolls! My first doll I bought was back in 2007. It was a little while later that I found out about a brand called Baby the Stars Shine Bright. Volks the company that made my doll did a collaboration and released a dress set combined with a doll at one of their dolpas (short for dolls party which is a doll convention) The set was adorable and on futher reseach I found out about more collaborations they did. Soon after I got into collecting BTSSB dress sets. On one of my various google searches I came across one of the dresses that I had for my doll but on a person! That side tracked me onto other google searches culminating in a live journal search and a sale on garagesalejapan. Not long after I found EGL. This was that purchase….

FLM_1Despite the fact that I had owned and worn lolita for a little while, my first meet out was actually only in August last year. I had some photos done with Tamara and Jaana  at Avcon the month before and they invited me to join the Adelaide lolita group. I was very happy to find that there were quite a few other lolitas in Adelaide who were active. I had never met these girls before and I was really nervous getting dressed that morning. I remember changing my outfit quite a bit and freaking out what to do about my hair! Continue reading…

RS1I love the show, I have done since I was little. My parents would only let us go every second year as it was expensive. I remember that as soon as the showbag guide came in the newspaper me and my brother would go through every bag and highlight the ones that we wanted to get. The petting zoo, animals, craft, competitions, rides, food and flashing lights. It was like hollywood except in adelaide and only once a year. Continue reading…

PoofThere have been two things recently that got me onto this topic. The first was watching “My big fat Gypsy Wedding”, we watched the whole series though and sometime during that time my BF made a comment comparing the wedding dresses on the the TV show to the petticoats that we wear in Lolita. Thankfully I knew what he meant and we started to joke about having big fat poofy pettis. Continue reading…

6-1Lolita is all about the aethetic, looking and feeling pretty. There is just one thing that usually spoils this……. the waist ties. Trying to tie the perfect bow? Endlessly frustrated about them looking limp or not straight or with one waist tie longer than the other! Me too! Continue reading…
